Turkey - Istanbul

Last year, we holidayed in Turkey. We began our journey in Istanbul and finished there. (I will post some shots of other areas later.) Istanbul is a city of contrasts: rich in history, but also modern and busy. It was interesting to see that some of the tourist areas were enjoyed as much by the locals as visitors. Eminonu, the waterfront, for instance is a place where local families mingle with tourists on warm evenings eating fish sandwiches and pickles. The spice market nearby and the new mosque (finished in 1663) are all areas where you can wander and enjoy local life, without the pressure of tours.

This is a city I would visit again and again. Turkey is a place I would have no hestitation in returning to. I will post some more of our travels in Turkey later, if people are interested.

Great images! I am very interested in seeing any additional images. Istanbul is #1 on my Bucket List of places to visit. I have no great interest in visiting the rest of Turkey but, want to spend a week or ten days in Turkey...

Very impressive images. I wish that my personal stay in Turkey had not been an overnight one, shrouded in constant darkness. I couldn't leave my hotel and it was a painful thing.

Fabulous shots, particularly of the boat at Eminonu. I have taken probably a dozen shots of that boat, and none of mine have satisfied me. Well done!

I really like the pickle seller shot! I'm craving a fish sandwich now.
