Import from old web sites?

Honestly tried to find the answer in the FAQs, but couldn't find it.

New to smugmug and thus far am very impressed -- so I want to try and move some photos from ancient archival web sites that have used various random perl scripts for present a set of images as HTML pages. Really creaky old stuff.

I was wondering if there would be an easy way to "import" these pictures into a smugmug gallery. The schema would be to give the importer a base URL (a directory, really) and have it pull each picture into the gallery. I'm sure that you can do this DAV or something, but does someone already have a widget that does this?

Thanks!

I've no idea if there exists something in perl, but you could have a look at this thread over here. Rutt created a python script that as far as I remember syncs a local directory structure into smugmug. So maybe you can download the stuff yourself using ftp and then use Rutt's script. Before you do anything big I would recommend you having a look at how the tree structure in SM works. In short:
    Main page - categories - sub-categories - galleries
There are no further levels possible - just to keep in mind.

Now have fun with SM and dgrin! thumb.gif
