The wife and I decided to kill some time last night so we moved some stuff around to create a small "studio" in the living room. Nothing more than a black bedsheet as a backdrop, two speedlights and an umbrella in very tight conditions.

We're still learning (me with lighting, her with poses) so we welcome any/all feedback.

Very pretty woman. A more flattering pose would be to have her turn her body about 45 degrees away from straight and then turn her head back toward the camera. A straight on pose is rarely flattering to anyone - male or female.

Nice catch lights in her eyes :D

The lighting and color looks pretty good. Maybe lower the main just a tad to get more light into the eye sockets. Ditto on the 45 degree turn. Much more flattering. I like the kicker coming in from the viewers left. Maybe a reflector (white sheet or crumpled alumnium foil) to add a tad more fill. Really, it is a nice first try. Much better than my first try years ago.

I like how she is holding her eyes in shot 2. The balance of 'whites' and how the iris sits on the bottom lid is about as good as it gets imo.
