I along with JC Dill practiced with some off camera flash. The first image was my always willing trusty portrait subject in my drive way. The second is Rachel, a horse trainer at Stanford.

Just sharing but comments are always welcome.

    EXIF was missing???

I will check and see how I exported the images out of Lightroom.

I just checked the image in LR and the EXIF data is there??

Sam, no clue about the exif but that portrait is a stunner. The only thing I might do is take some off the top to decenter the woman a bit (and if you have room to crop the right side as well, then I'd probably do that too to cut out what looks like the entrance to a garage, or maybe it's a walkway). I might also brighten her face just a bit - the bright light from behind is certainly under control with the fill flash you added, but for me you could lift her face just a little more in post to balance it a bit further.

    Nice job, though! thumb.gif

I'm with Diva. The lady is captured well, but I would brighten her face just a touch to help it compete with the bright background ( which I might dial down a touch as well )

Her coy smile is lovely, Sam. Good catch!

PS I'd also clone out the bright spot on the horse's rump behind the cantle (just paste of the coat from another, un-blown-out part of his rump and then mask it out so it covers just that patch - should be a pretty easy fix since the DOF has blurred out the directions the coat is growing)

    Good catch Diva.

I might just crop that portion of the horse out just through the margin of the saddle, as well as a trim along the left vertical border as well and end up with a portrait format image.

Lots of neat ways to mess with Sam's picture.clap.gif

Pathfinder, that would also solve the problem of the bright white trim on the building thumb.gif That said, I like having the full beastie in the shot - he's gorgeous, beautifully groomed and, even at that angle, you can see he's got good lines. Would be a shame to lose his butt lol3.gif

The Comments provided by DM and Pathfinder are interesting. But at the same time I wonder what difference it would truly make. If you decide to make adjustments, please post those Sam.
