Lightroom 3 question

I just upgraded to LR3 and I have a question. When I click on the import tab why does it default to show preview photos of the same random folder on my hard drive in the photo view window???? Seems so odd and random. It never asked me to choose a default folder to go to and I cant see how to change it. I installed LR3 on both my pc's and on the other one it doesn't show any preview photos when I click on the import tab. It's not a really that much of a big deal, (although it is a little annoying, lol) I just dont see how it would choose this specific folder.
Also, when you click on the import tab is there a way to set up a default source folder on my computers hard drive so I dont have to scroll through each time I want to import?

normally you dont need import
you only need import when you added a new drive or a new folder in pc [ then in LR click the + next to folders ]

if you added photo's to a folder already in the list ;
right-click the folder and select synchronize folder
