A couple weeks ago I posted pictures of bear cubs in a tree. This time I bring you a grown bear in a tree.

This guy was quite high up in a tree off the side of the road, apparently he enjoyed the tree buds better than what he could find on the ground.

These are the first few that I have edited, we will see if I have better angles, or images, when I get through editing the rest of the pictures, we will see if I ended up getting something better than below.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

From the ground probably at least 15-20 feet, maybe more, but from where I was standing about 5 feet up. I was standing on the road, and the side of the road dropped off to a river valley, where the base of this tree was, and then the tree was still at least 5 feet above the road.

Needless to say, it was much higher than I expected to see a bear of this size.

Correction - My boyfriend assures me that it was at least 50 feet. I guess I was under estimating the height big time.

These are really lovely images. Congrats!

I am a bit suspicious that is a juvenile grizzly. I think that the first image shows a bit of a hump, plus the brown fur and golden nose.

Beautiful specimen, but certainly not an animal to get too close to!

It could be a grizzly, but I thought it was a grown black bear. Most of the black bears that I have seen in Jasper actually have brownish fur as opposed to the silky black that I am used to seeing, also his ears a larger and more pointed than that of the grizzlies that I have seen. But I have been known to think the animal is one thing when it is really something else.

Regardless of the type of bear, I am still happy that I got the opportunity to capture such a lovely creature in an unusual place. And I am really happy that the pictures turned out. I was nervous at first that due to the sky I was going to have problems with the exposure, but I am happy with them.

Thanks everyone for all your views/comments.
