Mountain Goats - With their tongues out

I saw these guys (girls) while in Jasper last weekend. It seemed like they had their tongues hanging out more than they had them in their mouthes.

The babies were super cute to see in person, and must smaller than expected.

    Love them all, but #2 hits me as the best one. They are scraggy looking while shedding their wool, aren't they?

    Interesting set. In the last photo it looks like the one in BG is licking the rock. Were they all doing that? Wonder if the tongue action has something to do with them licking salt or some other mineral in the rocks headscratch.gif

    Yes they do look very haggard this time of year.

    And yes, they do lick the the rocks/ground it think there is a salt lick there or something, so that probably is the reason why they are hanging their tongues out.
