Fireworks From Boise Idaho ... 6 pics

Haven't imaged fireworks for several years.
Thought I would give it a another go since it has been way too long
I usually like to just watch since I feel like I miss the show if I concentrate on taking pictures.

#4 Great job on all of these. In Boise do they do the Fw's when it's still light outside? Say, 8:45? Here near DC they wait till it's pretty much dark, except for some very dark blue sky to the west; around 9:15.

Yeah it doesn't get black dark here in Boise till after 10:30, so yeah the fireworks run pretty late.
We had quite a display off our back deck out on the edge of town but nothing like these .
Really nice job on the photos!!

Somewhat light. Just not full on dark yet. My test exposures were taken at about 10:15pm MST. Think the show stared just a little after that. Shot angle was to the NW so the sunset background came into play with the exposure times. To the naked eye its dark enough and for those who have to work the next day We have traffic to content with after show. Just not at the DC traffic level.
Pleased you like these. You got some excellent ones from your effort as well

Thanks Lauren #4 was probably my only good one of all the shape shells they sent up. Have no idea why that is Too busy watching the display maybe

Seems to get dark in DC pretty early. Wonder why that is D
Our near location to the depot is loaded with large trees. Great for shade but blocks most of the lower shells from the park on the 4th. Only had to lug my small pack of gear a few blocks to get up front location. Which surprisingly enough had a nice spot at good distance with no trees open for me to set up around lots of nice folks. Felt really lucky about that.

I used to live in Mtn Home (twice). Where did you shoot from? It's been a long time since I was in Boise, but I really liked the town a lot.

Define a long time? Things have changed so much. They tore down the old town and country bakery up on the rim drive and put in a large apartment complex where it stood. The project took awhile to complete, it is appears finished now. I found a spot along the guard railing there. As you recall it was just a couple blocks west of the train depot along the rim there by Peasly street. How long has it been since you have been in Mt. Home? It has grown a bit too. In a decent enough way. The base is still very active as well. I go out to Bruneau Dunes from time to time. Other spots out that way. Not as much as I used to when I was active with our astronomy club.

I used to really enjoy Bruneau Dunes! As for when I was last in Boise: early 1995. I used to think I'd retire there but life brought many changes. Still have many fond memories of Idaho. I always like to watch for your shots in case there is something I recognize. You and zoomer.

Zoomers got a ton posted. Excellent person to watch Excellent photography.
We too really like the dunes area. You remember the hot no doubt. Well, its getting there We amateur astronomers like to tell people while viewing from there during the daytime sun... "not only can we show you the sun but we can make you feel like your there too"

We been watching all the fireworks in DC and figured it had to really heat up sometime for ya Maybe it will help ya miss how sweet last winter was over your way.

Great stuff, Michael. Excellent comps and exposures. I really like the twilight light in the first couple as well. That's something you don't normally see.
