Spider in the kitchen

Last summer there was a spider in the gardening gloves we keep in a corner of the kitchen.
10 months on and he is back again. Well, it could be him, can't be certain of course...
Anyway, me being me, and not being overly bothered by spiders, in I went nice and close to get a looksee. Had some help from the wife on this, she held the ringflash against a sheet of A4 printer paper to try and diffuse some of the flash. That's the nearest she's gotten herself to the creature.
This house spider, is the Teganaria gigantea.

Hi Brian.
He was getting on for pretty much close to two inches from left to right.

That is a very interesting composition with the second shot.
Good shooting
On the second image, you can see two parts of the glove - probably the a finger and the thumb - and we are seeing him stood between them - like he's looking out from the mouth of a cave.

These images are great, Paul. I like the lighting you have here...nice and bright, makes him look not quite so dark and hairy.
And an excellent composition on the second, as someone already said.

Thank you!
Hi Manuel, thanks for the comment
I use a Marumi Ring Flash, it is a budget flash - there are Canon and Sigma models which are far superior but cost quite a bit more than I could afford to pay.
