Recipe:

- BD Colen
- Four participants from a wide range of backgrounds
- A great location

.........mix well, enjoy and learn!

The week consisted of a series of assignments and a visual project. I won't spoil things by describing the assignments in detail however here's an image from each of them:

Assignment 1

Assignment 2

Assignment 3

Assignment 4

Final Project - the assignments provided a valuable insight into the range of approaches and techniques required to complete the final project which is best described as a 'picture story'. I chose to do mine on a restaurant in Oak Bluffs. Here's a link for those of you that are interested: http://syncopation.smugmug.com/Other/Marthas-Vineyard-Project/17739265_t3zvNG#1354217366_2p9gT6x

So, in summary, a challenging, interesting and rewarding week and one that I'm still reflecting on and learning from. I met some great people, shared some great times and have some great photos that capture the memories.

I enjoyed looking at your photographs and envy you your experience with the workshop and the venue. Your project brought to mind the one I did for BD's class two summers ago. I photographed for almost 10 hours (well over 150 photographs) then, with the help of BD and a fellow student, winnowed down the results to just 20 photographs. If you have a few minutes, you can check out the photos plus text here.

I have no doubt that you will continue to treasure the experience and profit from all that you learned - about yourself and about taking photographs that are meaningful to you!!

    Some remarkable similarities!

I really like the way you have presented your story. Did you add the text at the time or later?

Looks like a place to visit if I make it to Brookline!
