Rusty Rocks

Good morning. The area where I live in southern New Brunswick, Canada, has been designated as part of the "Stonehammer Geopark", the only one of its kind in North America, by UNESCO in recognition of it's exceptional geological heritage.

For those with an interest in such things, there is much more information available at this website: Stonehammer Geopark

Although you are not SUPPOSED to stop on the side of the highway to examine the rocks - it does, sometimes, happen:rolleyes

The composition of the rocks contains a very high concentration of iron, hence the "rusty rocks". Coincidentally, the incidence of 'hemochromatosis' (an excess of iron retained in the body thought to be the root cause of several serious health problems - and sadly a condition I have) is higher here in Kings County than elsewhere in Canada. It is a genetic disease, transmitted when both parents carry the necessary mutant gene - but you have to wonder... did the water contribute to the development of that gene in people living here over the generations?

Enjoy.

Neat stuff, Ceci. That is quite a coincidence, if it is one. Try moving down here for a while. :D
