Front Focusing Problem?

Hello,

I just came back from shooting a 10U baseball game. I used the Canon 30D and a Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 (with 1.4 TC) for this game.

There are several images that are showing the focus is just a little off on the players. For the image attached, I used the single focus point, AI Servo, and the back focus button to pre-focus the catcher's chest. As you can see, the sharp area is a couple of feet behind the catcher. Is this what is known as back focusing problem?

What can I do to correct this problem?

Thanks all!

If it is a back focus problem then all of the photos taken should have the problem, not just a few. The only way to fix a back focus problem is to send the camera and lens in to get calibrated.

Google"back focus test" and then test your system to determine if you do have a problem with back focus.

    Good luck.
