Looking at my stats

I was pleased and astounded to see I've had over 2400 hits since I opened my new site on Saturday just gone. But it doesn't seem to tell me where people have come from, other than my other photography site. I tried to put a code into the javascript section at the bottom as I have a stat service I pay for and use for my other sites, but for some reason the code hasn't worked. I'd love to hear more about how I can get further information on stats as I'm aiming to target a particular audience so knowing where people come from and how would be very useful to me.

Thanks, yes it shows 65 people coming from my main website. But I've had over 2400 views so they must have come from other places too. In fact I know that some have come via Twitter and Facebook and another forum I belong to but that doesn't show in the stats.

I have an account with statcounter but the code didn't seem to work - it does on all my other sites. So I'm trying google analytics and will see how that goes.

Under setting, it says WEB PROPERTY ID, how do you get that?
