I like #1 - the shadow is a little too prominent and distracting in #2. I'm still trying to figure out what #3 is - it looks like some sort of headless horseman shot headscratch.gif

    Hi Justin,
    welcome to GF!

Last minute shoots can be tough, and, unfortunately, it shows :-(

    The first couple:
You have managed to get a decent balance between flash and the ambient (better on #1 than on #2). Vantage point is also adequate.
The pose, however, is completely uninteresting in both cases, and her facial expression only makes it worse :cry

The last shot #3 presents an interesting solution of duotone coonversion. The pose, hosever, looks too contrived, and I'm not sure about the blown highlights.

    Keep shooting and sharing! thumb.gif

Thank you for the input, yeah kinda last minute. I wanted something more artistic, but she had somewhere to go after the shoot even though she asked me to take a couple of photos.

I wanted something more like this.

    This one is *much* better.

FWIW, I usually don't even agree on any "last minute" or "quick" shoots, as I know from my own bitter experience that nothing good ever comes out :-( I'd rather save the shutter ;-)

I've worked with her one other time and she really doesn't have very good expressions when posing. Here is some others I had shot that day with her. As you can tell her expression is about the same.

And this one was from a previous shoot I had done with her.

Well, to a degree it's a mutual responsibility. If you don't like the pose, don't take the shot, make her change it. I work with young/inexperienced models a lot, and as long as the model is not completely incapable/stupid (sadly, some are, those are lost cases, you can't do anything about it) and is willing to follow your directions, all the posing problems can be resolved.

You are correct. But I did give her direction but alas got the same look. She did stop closing her eyes though :D after telling her various times. But off to the next shoots coming up next weekend.
