upload nested folders

I am sure this has been asked before, but I cannot find it on the forum (maybe I am searching with the wrong terms).
Is there a way to upload and have it automatically create galleries for each folder that is being uploaded?
I currently have a folder that contains folders of images. It would really be a pain if I had to manually upload each folder to a gallery. There is over 300 of them, some only containing a few images.
