I find that I typically don't like the way many of my flower pictures turn out, but for some reason I really like this one.

    nice one. I am always happy to see more flower images on the site. Nicely composed (the diagonal line created by the two flowers), and very nice colors, lighting, and texture. My only suggestion is that more DOF would have helped. I would have like it more if the anthers were also in focus.

    Agree- like it. I think flower shots are far harder than bug shots to make interesting. You really need the lighting and composition to come together to make something fairly unique looking.

    The flower is likely Aquilegia canadensis, aka wild or Canadian columbine. It's nice to see native/wild flower species showcased once in a while, and this is a great offering.
