Probs with Canon S2 IS

A few months ago i bought a Canon PowerShot S2 IS, and have loved it (well, maybe "settled for" is a better term, being i'm not rich enough for something better :-P). I've noticed some problems with a few pics i've taken over time, though.

In the upper-left corner there are diagonal "lines" i guess you could call them - some sort of distortion. I first noticed it a month ago, but figured the lens was dirty or something, but i've noticed the same problem on some shots i took in the mountains last week:

Original, uneditted and Editted (to try and bring out the distortion better)

Any ideas on what's causing it? I have a warranty and all, but i thought i'd research the problem before-hand, so anyone have any comments? Thanks in advance for taking the time to check out the images, you can't really see the distortion after compression. :hugz:

Well, I don't know what's going on there.
I have the S1 version, and I don't remember getting anything like this
    in my pictures.

Does it happen in every picture, or just ones with sky?
The good news is, you still have a warranty, the bad news is, you'll be
without a camera for a couple of weeks.

If you're seeing it in every picture, send it in, and let canon fix it.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the help, dave. I don't notice any distortion if there is a varying degree of contrast in the area, so sky shots are the most noticeable. You think they'd just fix it if i sent it in, or would they hassle me about it?

    Thanks again :)

Sorry to get back to you so late.

I haven't had to send any cameras in for work (yet). I guess a phone call
or email would be the first step.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Send multiple examples of photos in with it (printed, not digital). It'll help prove your case.
