Upload remnants?

Hi,
I just got back from a tournament on Sunday, so I've been uploading pictures pretty much non-stop since then. It was all smooth sailing until last night's downtime for maintenance. Today, I'm getting little failures (like one picture in the middle of the 300 pictures will say "verifying" forever). and then about 3 pictures in each gallery has one of those "processing Image" boxes, even though I can see, right next to it is the real picture. The "processing image" box has the same file name and it doesn't seem to go away. I gave it several minutes to clear up. So I have been loading each gallery and deleting the mysterious remnant boxes. Normally I don't go back and look at galleries at all. My only hint that it was acting up was that the one picture stayed at Verifying forever.
I'm using Mozilla Firefox and whatever uploader it is that does 3 pictures at a time.
Am I the only one having uploader issues?
i guess I should have saved some of the boxes, but I deleted them all.
Thanks,
Anna

I too have had some 'processing image' boxes, but that was due to the uploader crashing a few times when choking on an upload full of large videos. You'll probably have some duplicates in that gallery (most of them should be the 'processing image' or other 'stuck' situation) , so check the total number of images versus your original upload batch. It's a good idea to do this anyways as I've seen the uploaders upload duplicate images from time-to-time for years now.

My solution for 'processing image' is to go through and delete all these manually, and then use the uploader on the skip setting to see if there's any more duplicates (look for 'Multiple Duplicates'), or just delete the whole gallery and upload the whole thing again. If you have a lot of images stuck on 'processing image', the deletion method can be quicker as it doesn't require you to be doing anything manually.

This usually happens to me when there's an interruption in the upload such as the uploader crashing or Internet connection glitches/issues from me to SM. There's a tool to check your connection to SM, but I forgot the link. Try that to see if you have any connection issues.

Yep, one of the things I hate about uploading, especially since there's no easy way to find/remove duplicates. What's worse is that some dupes can actually still be incomplete uploads, and there's no real way to know until you download it and compare it with the original.

I'm going to work on my own dupefinder script when I have time, but until then the only way to find them is to use the uploader in skip dupes mode and look through it manually. It's a real pain...

It's why I want an FTP system like what Exposure Manager uses. I never had the dupe problem when I tested their system, and I could upload 2x as fast. Upload the batch via FTP, check it in the FTP client, login to your control panel, tell it which gallery the batch should go to, and bingo--done. The SM workflow to get images up correctly is a lot more convoluted than that.
