Apologies if this has been answered somewhere else.
I have had a quick search for the answer with no success and I have not posted here for a few months.

Is there a reason why I have to enter the password to any protected gallery twice before I can gain access?

The first attempt tells me that the password is incorrect, enter the same password again and all is ok.

Password 54321

My users are reporting the same problem. I've logged out and tried myself, and the same thing happens.

I'd like to also bring this issue up as I am experiencing the same issue on a private album I made yesterday. It isn't browser related as it happens with Firefox, Chrome and IE9. Seems like a really silly bug and is a bit annoying because I wanted to share the photographs with older and technologically challenged family members who will certainly be discouraged by an incorrect password error the first time around :(

Any updates regarding this? I'm still experiencing this issue. I find it hard to believe that it is this hard to fix a simple password validation issue....especially considering that the password always validates correctly the second time around.

I do hope that this hasn't been brushed aside and is still being actively looked at. It kinda sucks having a nice fancy smugmug gallery to share with friends and family and to then have to email everyone with a heads up about the password validation bug.

    More than an inconvenience
I have been in contact with SmugMug about this issue since the beginning. The only answer I ever get is "it's being looked at". We are receiving at least a dozen complaints a day from clients who cannot log in to view their photos. Our company places an extremely high value on it's reputation and level of customer serviceand this makes us (and SmugMug) look really bad.

SmugMug is an integral part of my business and I have always been extremely pleased with the product and customer service up until now. I really hope they can get this fixed.

Both me and my users are experiencing the double-entry on passwords (Firefox 5.0.1 and Safari 5.0.5). Any news yet other than "working on it" ?

No new news - we are trying to fix the bug and hope to nail it fast.

I wonder if the authentication routines are somehow placing some odd, yet invisible, character into the password input field when the box first pops up, but then clearing it out upon activation of the second try? At least I know it's not my poor typing ability! :D

Any update? No one seems to have any clue of what is going on. This whole issue has really tarnished my up until now stellar opinion of SmugMug.

It's been 12 days now and we are amassing dozens upon dozens of angry customers here. Crazy idea, why don't you roll back whatever changes you made that contain the bug? Quite frankly, we are getting very tired of apologizing to a dozen people a day and trying to explain why they can't access their photos.

No update yet but we will fix it. It's a pretty strange but, and it requires some people who've been totally away from SmugMug for a week. I'm really sorry.

    entering gallery password twice....
I am having the same issue with people saying they have to enter the password twice for one of my galleries. Is there an update as to whether this is going to be fixed?

It will be fixed - we're having a very tough time nailing down this bug. Sorry for the hassle - but it is being worked on right now!

Andy - not sure if it helps but I get the same problem when uploading photo's from my home PC (running chrome).

Click on upload and the box pop's up with the message along the lines of 'there is a problem with HTML5' use the simple uploaded - click on it and have to enter username and password, then have to enter it again and away it goes.

Annoying but not enough to shout at anyone 'yet' ;)

I'm still having this problem. Is there a fix for it in the near future?
