Couple of dragons

Have seen very few dragonflies (or damselflies for that matter) in the garden this year so far, but did get this common darter female and a hawker dragonfly in the last few days. All fairly strong natural light pics.

Your shots have great 'life' to them, with such wonderful perches and colored backgrounds.
I'm a city dweller and have to travel to do any macro shooting. I am having the same difficulty locating dragonfly models in four of my five usual locations.
Which only leads to the 'same old' backgrounds and perches from only one location.
Wonderful colors and pose in all of them, but I especially like the first three.

Kathie - similar rules to getting close to these as other bugs. Move forward slowly, keep out of their light (ie don't shade them) try to keep low. Take photgraphs as you move in. If you do spook them then step back and watch what they do. The smaller dragons will often return to the same perch whilst the larger ones will sometimes settle close by.
It may be my imagination but they do seem to get used to you.
