My wife surprised me with a brand new monitor, an NEC PA241W. She said she walked into B and H Photo and asked them what do you recommend for someone who is not professional but cares about what the picture looks like. So i hope its a good one, but now I'm going to need a monitor calibrator..... Any suggestions for a good calibrator for someone who is not professional but knows that a monitor should be calibrated ( I learned that here )....

Uh...its more than that, it is a pro-grade Monitor. I know, because I own one. If you'll visit B&H or NEC you can find the Calibrator that works with it that they recommend! Mine says NEC on it and it's made by Xrite.

I’d get the Colorimeter that is matted to that display and sold by NEC (its OEM’d X-Rite EyeOne Display-2 with custom filters for that unit). And be sure to also get the NEC SpectraView II software to calibrate the display!

I Shouldda said that ! I will say, if you have any issues with NEC's piece, they're Chat-available and on it.

Color Munki. You can do your monitor and custom profiles for paper too. I used mine to perfect kirkland paper with my epson and did another profile for some metalic paper that was better than the profile from the paper company. Good tool and simple to use.
