Here you go, Canonites, a 9.5-700mm f/1.7 zoom lens. Yeah, it's a little heavy and "only" covers a 1080i sensor, but it's still pretty darn cool! (Go Sox!)

    Why can't they make one of those for SLRs? Maybe too big a sensor or something?

    Thanks for linking that! I've been following Tom's Vimeo channel for a while now. He covers a lot of stuff and has some great tutorials on doing time lapse, product reviews and general hints for videographers (mostly) and some for photography. I hadn't watched that specific piece yet, as I haven't ventured back three years yet.
