Will Moving Galleries/Subcategories Wreck my Event Pages/Client "Favorite" Galleries?

I'm trying to reorganize my site at the moment. Currently I have some weddings organized as
Galleries (Category)
Couple's Name (Subcategory)
Getting Ready (Gallery)
Ceremony (Gallery)
Portraits (Gallery)
Reception (Gallery)
The problem is that all the galleries on my site are inside of a category called "Galleries," which effectively robs me of one level of hierarchy because I'm not taking advantage of the other categories. So I want to move everything around and organize it all into three main categories (Portfolio, Personal Work, Proofs). So I want to move everything such that those galleries would now be organized like this:
Proofs (Category)
Couple's Name (Subcategory)
Getting Ready (Gallery)
Ceremony (Gallery)
Portraits (Gallery)
Reception (Gallery)
Apparently there's no way to move a subcategory to a different category. Therefore I have to create the new Category, create a new Subcategory, and then move the galleires into that new location. What I need to know is whether this will effect the Event that I created for the clients. The Event has the same name as the Subcategory and the same four galleries in it. Basically I created the Event for the clients so they could easily browse and pick their favorites, but I also put everything into one Subcategory so that guests who came to my site could easily find everything without having the direct link to the event.
SO... If I move the galleries, will the original event link that I gave them still work? And will their "Favorites" gallery still have all their chosen images inside?

When re-assigning categories / subcategories, I currently would advise against using the 'multiple galleries' tool in the gallery settings to do so as it may not work properly for (sub)categories. This is something we're currently investigating / working on resolving.
