A couple of insect shots

Had to catch a break from the television and the news regarding yesterdays terrorist attacks here in Norway, so took a short macro walk.

Really struggling to get the focal point correct on the eyes, but these two came out reasonably well, even though they could have been better:





I do however think that I am on a track to learning how to get decent lightning on my macro shots.

Lovely shots- lighting does look good.
Might be an idea to try a bit more diffusion on the flash - IMO you should be able to smooth out the brighter light patches on the eyes.

Thank you Brian, the light spread is an issue, these two were taken with on camera flash, where I used the built in diffuser and the reflector while aiming the flash 45 degrees upwards.
