In my opinion #2 has to much head room and it takes away from the photo, I also think she would have been better off on the right side of your frame so she was looking into your photo. The way it is now her eyes lead me out of the photo.
Some basics....#1 is a good couples pose especially with the heads tipped towards each other. Nits to watch out for.....clasp on his necklace, brush coming up out of their heads, squinting into the sun, clothing.....black is not usually a good choice, too much skin on her that competes with her face. A little fill flash would have helped open the shadows some. The expresson is very nice and a good family capture.
#2. hunched in shoulders and some of the above comments. A little too dark for my taste.
#3. Comments from #1 should apply here plus wind blown hair, noses should not come too close or break the plane of the face. Too many arms cluttering the bottom.
Your capture of emotions is what most portraits are about. That trumps most rules about portrature.
Please take from this what you feel you need. The comments are meant to help create a better portrait and in the style that I like. Others may not agree with me so you gotta take it for what you need.
Thank you very much Charles. Your feedback is exactly what I am looking for and extremely helpful. Would you mind explaining your comment about the noses a little more?

When looking off to the side in #3 his nose breaks the plane (the far edge of his/her face) of his face and hers comes very close to doing it. In print competition this is a big nit altering ones score.

If you want the nose to break the plane just do a profile shot.
