Uploading images via email from Lion?

hi everyone.
I've run more than 10 different tests today, but I have been unable to upload an image with caption to my Email gallery via email from Lion's Mail.
I was successful only once, when the only thing in the body of the email was the photo, and that also means no spaces or return characters (I tested this!).
has anyone else seen the same problem?
