Out of the handful of times I've shot here, I took this shot this morning and I am very pleased with it. I feel it's my best shot from Hazard.

I haven't seen your other shots from there, but I'll believe you that it's your best. I love the colors and composition! There are enough clouds to make the sky interesting and you did a great job showing the movement of the water without blurring it completely.

Did you use any filters on this shot? Which lens? (I see it's at 10mm and you use Canon - 10-22mm?)

Thanks! I used the Sigma 10-20 and a HiTech 3 stop reverse GND.

That is a rocking shot, Bryan! I just moved out near the coast myself, and your coastal shots make me want to get out there and take some snaps. Of course, they'll have to be sunsets, not sunrises. Maybe I'll buy some filters too. :)

    Cheers,

This is an outstanding comp, perfect placement of the sun in the background with nice diagonal line from the water. Colors ain't bad either!

    Thanks everyone.

Joel, I'm looking forward to seeing some west coast sunsets from you! Are you up north or down south?

Sam, a reverse grad has a very dark center band and quickly transitions to 1 stop or so less on the top. They are designed for flat horizon sunrise/sunset shots where the sun is brightest on the horizon. Currently, only SinghRay and Formatt/HiTech make them. They are NOT cheap.

Excellent composition. I especially like the hues of the sky in the capture and it's reflection in the water
