Fixed Lens Digital

I'm looking for a digital camera with 4 - 5 MP or more with a fixed wide angle lens (28mm or wider) of F2.0 or F2.8 aperture. I would like to have a viewfinder on this gem as well.

I don't want a zoom and don't need it to be tiny.

The best I've come up with is Canon's PowerShot SD20 Digital Elph 5.0 MP camera. It's F2.8 but the lens is 39mm -- not quite as wide as I'd like.

Any Ideas?

Thanks for all suggestions,
Frank

    Hi Frank,

The closest match I can see is the Panasonic DMC-LC1. More info here

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Ricoh GR-D? http://www.ricoh.com/r_dc/gr/gr_digital/index.html

    28mm F2.4, 8MP, 64-1600 ISO iloveyou.gif

Not available in USA from what I've heard though... hopefully in Canada.

    Thanks, Harry.

I'm an admirer of that camera but I really want a fixed lens -- its a discipline concept. Also want to relive using my M3 (just sold :cry ) with a 35mm lens. Also its a bit pricey for a third digital!

But if I can find the bucks I might buy the LC-1 anyway especially if I can get a good deal on a used one.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes indeed -- this looks like a close match and I was unaware of the camera. (No VF tho, correct?)

I'll go hunting on the world market (eBay) for it and let you know what I find.

Thanks very much for the info,
    Frank

P.S. Well I hunted -- there is one seller offering to ship a GR Digital directly from Japan -- price = $798 US. Also see announcements of the GR being released on Oct 21st -- but don't think it includes US??

P.P.S. -- BTW -- it does not have a VF because there is a really great looking accessory finder designed for the GR that goes in the hot shoe. It looks big and bright -- might be one of the best VF available for a Digital! clap.gif
