Got my bull moose and bald eagle
I stated in a past post that I was going to look for bull moose to photograph.Well I found him and a bonus bald eagle at the same time.I started out shooting the moose, then the eagle as it flew past, and back to the moose as he moved down the river bank.I then ended a great day of shooting with a sunset that I had been meaning to capture for a long time.If the moose shots dont look that good the reason will be shown below. My son Scott came with me and was happy he captured these critters as well with his camera. All in all we had a great day and I will keep an eye on this fellow as he grows. Thanks for lookin...ice
This is a young bull as can be seen by his rack.I was amazed that the Bigma could bring this beast in at the distance we were at.The more I use this lens the more I love it.500mm 66% crop.
500mm and 66% crop.Comming down for a drink from the North Sask river.
500mm and 66% crop.Having a look around
Heading back to the bush
My son took this shot of me shooting the moose. This gives a good idea of just how far we were away from the bull.
Here is the moose at 50mm from were we were standing across the river and a distance up.If you look close you can see the black spot.It was hard to see with the naked eye thats for sure.
The eagle was almost as far as the moose, not a good shot but its my first bald eagle.
I ended my day waiting for the sun to set behind this old barn.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Big thanks for giving us an idea of how far away you were and what the Bigma can produce! Nice demonstration

Yes, it would have been nice to be closer but that's the way it goes. The best bird/animal shots are always a couple of hundred mm's farther away than the biggest lens you have with you..... I think this would hold true even if one was using a 1200mm lens :lol
Unless you're shooting from a blind, wildlife shooting seems to be all about luck. Ya did good on these and maybe next time you'll luck out and your subjects will be closer to you. Although I'm not too sure I'd like being TOO close to a bull moose during mating season :uhoh :yikes :hide

Too bad your son did not get a shot of that!!!
