Venice is such a great place for photography. I'd love to go back and stay for a year or two.
It's a nice architectural shot, but if your interest was in the street seller I think you should have gotten closer.
You're quite right. The shot above is a heavy crop from another image that was more about the architecture. Only during post did I decide to concentrate on the painter.
For me, one of the joys of composition has been to have "hidden" elements that really make the shot. This time the painter is something one only sees after looking at the photo for a while. This approach can also been seen with the "Neighbourhood Watch"-shot that I posted earlier.
