My wife and I escaped to a place in northern Wisconsin for a few days. We spent part of one day walking around the (2 block) downtown area. As always, C&C welcome.

#1 Gotta love signs like this on a hot day.

#2 He was watching everything just pass by, not a word to anyone.

#3 A couple little girls window shopping. I think the blond caught me.

#4. This is the first truly old style theater I've ever seen. If you look closely, you'll see the ticket booth in the front. Unfortunately unmanned. The subject matter screamed for old-looking processing.

#5. A gentleman peacefully reading by the lodge we were staying at.

Yep. It's too bad a modern looking car was parked in front of the cinema. I wonder whether you could have avoided it by shooting from a different angle and possibly focal length. ne_nau.gif

The only way to avoid that car was taking the shot from the other side of it, which had a busy street; the theater was near an intersection. I think a tighter focal length would have cut off what I wanted to shoot...though I'll admit I didn't think of that when shooting. I'm a little bummed about the modern car, but I'll take what I can get. ;-)

Yup, it's a very small town. I think the population was around 2,500 people. Yet the downtown area always seemed to have someone walking around. It's very centered around tourism. There were a couple craft stores, an antique shop and a few other, tourist-driven stores. The entire downtown area was very old with some pretty cool storefronts. I tried to capture some of that, but didn't like the way any of the shots turned out; I'll probably try again assuming we go back next year.

No 1 is priceless - No 2 - the facial expression and and hand placement says it all - such as -" What the @#$%^& is going on over there.
    Great shots.

Thank you, Flowerman! I got a good laugh at the sign in #1, too. :)

I LIVE for signs like that, really great. I also like #2, typical suspicious local. The theater's a great find. Yeah, too bad about the car. I've had lots of shot messed up by them. Maybe there should be a "senior car only" parking area in front of buildings like that!!

Thank you for the feedback, Jim. I've showed family that picture, and the sign has gotten many laughs. :-)
