With Photoshop, you can have your cake AND eat it, too.
For example, with this image, you could create a duplicate layer in Photoshop, convert it to black and white, then use a mask to let the color show through on just the neon orange and yellow vest.
Best of both worlds!

Oh boy did you open a can of worms, or maybe I did ?
Were you suggesting selective color processing ? :wow
Perhaps I was not clear.
I like the image (wouldn't post if I did not) and like them in both B&W & Color.
Was really just looking for input on that level but of course welcome your comment as well, just not into selective color at all
I once had a cake and tried to eat it, almost lost my head
I think maybe what mason (or is it Dixon) was suggesting (not to put words in your mouth) is that the strong colors tend to bleed thru on the layering effect he's talking about, while the rest can appear to be desaturated as much or little as you like. This is different than selective color, at least in my mind (but I am know to be delusional at times). Sometimes I use this technique, but I think its tricky and hard to pull off. It is another option that can take the edge off obnoxiously strong color.

Nope. That is not at all what I was talking about.
