Connect method via Lightroom

Hello,

Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this I would post anyway in the hope for a reply...

I am adding photo captions to 2000+ images in Adobe Lightroom 3. From Lightroom I can connect directly to my SmugMug site; which would then pull images from my smugmug site to my wordpress website - using a plug-in called "Wordpress for SmugMug" by Anthony Humes.

However, if I don't add captions to the images and just upload them to smugmug to appear on the site - and then later decide to add captions - how do I update the gallery?

Do I need to re-connect the gallery via Lightroom, or do I have to delete whats already there on a page / and then re-attach images using the plug-in...?

Hope this makes sense.

    Hi,

If you publish the photos via our Lightroom publish service, you can have Lightroom republish them after you added your caption. It should only republish the photos that changed. After republishing, the new caption would then show on your SmugMug site.
Note that republishing means Lightroom reuploads the whole photo and replaces the version in your SmugMug gallery. So depending on the size of your photos that may take a bit.

This isn't possible if you did not publish the photos from Lightroom in the first place.

    Hi, Thanks for the note.

Yes, this would be good, but do I "re-publish" the same way as connecting originally?

So as I understand it - all I need to do is upload my photos via lightroom to SM ~ then once SM connects to my site; they would appear in displaying images on the website page.

Later and once I have captions on the photos - I can republish / re-upload / connect to my SM gallery via Lightroom and any new changes would appear.
