Southern Hawker dragons mating

Spotted a hawker dragonfly being chased by another from the kitchen window - they disappeared down the garden only to reappear about a minute later flying along in mating position looking for somewhere comfortable to perch. Unfortunately they decided to do this 15 feet up in my old apple tree. So one step ladder later...

That first shot clearly shows how they can fly in tandum... I always wondered about that.

They all came out nicely Brian, nice catch. Your cat would have a harder time getting to them way up there.

Those BIG DF's must make quite a buzz when flying together.

Funny you should mention that- I did check the cat was not following me. He has been known to climb ladders
