This is an hygrocybe and they are fairly common around here. They grow in large flushes.

Thank you for enjoying the shroon, Craig.
These grew in upstate NY where they were photographed. Growing in a stand of black birch.

These are not hard t0o find as they contrast strongly with dead leaf litter on the forest floor. They are edoible, but not particularly good.
