Hide Smilies?

Don't mean to be a kill-joy here - but was wondering if there's a way to hide/disable the Smilies list visible on the right side of the Dgrin message editor? I just find all that jumping and twisting and scooting of those "adorable" animated Smilies a somewhat distracting when trying to compose a tread.
