Downloading Individual Files and File Size Question - TIA

Greetings! I am interested in opening up one gallery to allow visitors to download the image files (at the original file size) contained within. I have uploaded high res files and disabled right-click protect; however, when one downloads ("Save image as"), the downloaded file is a much lower file size, i.e. 169K v. 2MB.

What am I doing wrong?

TIA

Ahhhhh.......please ignore thread. I believe I finally figured it out: click on the photo to view in original size and right-click from there.

You can also hover over the photo and when the popup window appears, select Save Photo and that will save the original (assuming originals are enabled). You don't have to be viewing the original for it to save the original when doing it this way.

You can also add a Download Image button that will download the original (assuming originals are enabled and right-click protection is off).

Thanks, jfriend! Ya know, I didn't even notice the "Save photo" icon on the fly-in menu. <slapping myself over the head with the file folder>

Many thanks for the link; however, I became lost at "Bottom Javascript". :D

Another question unrelated to downloads: Does one have the ability to assign a feature photo (thumbnail) at the category level that is NOT contained in the galleries within the category?

    For example:
Category: Travel with a feature photo that I do not want to show up in any of the Travel galleries.
    Travel category Galleries:
Thailand with a feature photo within the Thailand gallery
Malaysia with a feature photo within the Malaysia gallery
    And so on

    Many thanks!

No. The category thumbnail comes from the thumbnail of the first gallery in the category and Smugmug offers no way to change that.

That's too bad. Such small things can make a significant difference in presentation. Thanks, John.

John, I just viewed some of your work from your galleries link. While all of your images are beautiful, the shots from Antelope Canyon are simply stunning! I was compelled to publicly give you the praise those shots deserve!! Gorgeous captures.

Thanks. I was there a long time ago with only a Nikon D70 and it was early in my digital photo education. I'd love to go back again now that I've learned a lot more about photography and have better equipment. It's such a gorgeous place for photography. Horseshoe Bend is nearby too which is wonderful for photography. And, of course Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion are all within driving distance. I need to go back again.
