Southern Summer: Live Oaks, Spanish Moss, and Ressurection Fern after a soaking rain

Avery Island, Louisiana's Jungle Gardens in late July, after a soaking rain. The resurrection fern is so named because it can withstand long periods of drought, when it it curls up, turns brown, and looks dead. But just one good rain will bring it back to life, lush and green.

Looks terrific. We don't have anything remotely like it up north. Fascinating.

Thank you! I am from Texas originally, and we don't have anything like South Louisiana even one state over, either. Best, Pam

Thanks, Don. I just looked at your website, and LOVE your photos of Arizona, especially Canyon de Chelly. You have such beautiful textures and vibrant colors and vistas there. Best, Pam

Thank you for the kind comment! It is beautiful here when the fog settles in early mornings. Here is one like that from last spring. Best, Pam

Thank you, Chris! I am sure you can turn your backyard into a beautiful garden, because the fellow who built Jungle Gardens started out exactly like that. Best, Pam

Nice job of capturing the essence of the live oaks and moss. I've never done so successfully. Well done.thumb.gif

Thanks, Dan. For what it's worth, I was driving into Jungle Gardens in the very early morning to photograph the birds at Bird City, and just happened on this scene that had just the right light. I know what you mean about it beng hard to capture the essence of live oaks and moss. I have many previous less successful attempts. Best, Pam

These are great Pam. I was just in the ONP rainforest and I know how difficult it can be to compose and expose these. clap.gifclap
