I feel a little silly for asking this, but I've never personally experienced it before today:

I was checking over my lenses, just to make sure all still appeared to be well with the front glass, rear glass, gasket, etc...when the aperture was completely open I noticed what appears to be a small gnat on one of the internal layers of glass! It doesn't show up in pictures and doesn't appear to affect focus, but it's really driving me batty. Is there any way to get it out? What would you do? Am I angry for no reason?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

If it not causing a problem...then yes you are angry for no reason........if it is causing a problem then no you are not angry for no reason.....If it is really bothering you.... any Nikon repair station could do a CLA and get it off the glass for you...My Last CLA was on a Sigma 70-210 done at Pho Tech in Hesston Ks cost was around $200........but that lens was as snappy as a new one after Bernie Barge got done with it.

Thanks Art. I would have never known it was there had I not been looking for something. I appreciate the reply.

It's definitely a bug...I was a little shocked when I saw it there. A bit frustrating, because I was about to sell the lens. The bug does NOT show in photographs, but who wants to buy a lens with a a bug in it, lol. The guy backed out.

My 80-200 has what looks to be a little piece of dry skin in it?? But it is razor sharp and shows now skin in pictures. You might need to send it in to get serviced at Nikon. I had mine serviced once but they didn't take it apart that far. So, I still have my skin in there.
