Do you know what type you prefer, Camera rotator or flash rotator.......myself I use the old RB model of the stroboframe.......just gave away a Stroboframe RL2000......also the type of camera used will be needed as a smallish framed camera (entry level cams) can fit onto smaller flash brackets......but larger ones need more room to rotate easily.......
I prefer my flash stay horizontal, just like it were on the hotshoe, also I like the camera rotator types because they seem to keep the flash dead center above the lens which for me gives the easiest light to work with...........With my SB900's and using my pop up as commander I rarely use a flash bracket as my flash is usually mounted on my Giottos P-Pod (mono pod with stabilizing feet) so it can positioned where ever...but on wedding recessionals and Processionals, still use the flash bracket.........

I like the Stroboframe Stroboflip model personally for the same reasons you mentioned Art. While the flash rotates, this model keeps the flash upright and also dead center over the lens. B&H has them for $25.99 right now. I think I'm going to snag that one.
