Sometime around Midnight

After seeing Joel/kdog's awesome shots of the coast under the moonlight (link), I decided to try them myself. Had a clear night and almost full moon last night/this morning. I ventured out to the main beach first then an area called Castle Rock. Not sure how well these came out. I'm itching to go back under a new moon and concentrate more on the stars. Appreciate any comments/critiques on these.

1. Devereux - the light pollution is from Boston [f/8 238sec iso 200]

Very interesting take on Devereux Beach. If it weren't for the faint star trails you wouldn't know it was at night. I wonder if darkening the sky somewhat would give it a sense of night without losing the illumination feel.

What were your exposures here, E?

I actually like the "night is day - wait those are stars" mentality that Joel captured
Think I'll play with darkening the sky on a new moon when I'm going strictly for a star/night scene - we'll have to meet up for that one...

That last one is cool with the star trails. Just curious...how long of an exposure does something like this take?

I like No 4 .
No 3 is good but I would like to have seen the moon in the middle of the frame,and this would have put the chair more on the right side but I wasn't there.

That 4th one cost me a fair share of mosquito bites!
Would love to shoot these closer but am scared of a rogue wave taking me out in the middle of a 7 minute exposure.
