PS cs5 or elements?

Whats the difference between photoshop cs5 and photoshop elements? I Need to purchase a new version as my pc version is not mac compatible.
D300s D90
Nikon 18-105mm,Nikon 18-200mm,Sigma 24-70mm f2.8, Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8

    About $600.00

    PS Elements will be quite useful, and easier to learn to use.

    CS5 is far more capable, and requires a major commitment to learn to use well. But once mastered, there is little you can't accomplish with Photoshop.

    If you start with Elements, Adobe periodically offers upgrade deals to the full version of PS.

    Most of what you learn to do in Elements is directly translatable in the full version as well.

    You mention you have a PC version-- did you talk to Adobe about getting the license moved over to mac?

    I called Adobe and they said the my version of ps was too old and i would need to purchase a new version, I have cs 8.

    Nah, I think Elements would suit me fine. I can't figure out half the features of PS

    Just downloaded elements front the app store. Does anyone know where I can find the license # and how many systems the license is good for?
