File name sorting

Hey, I was wondering if you someone could help me understand this issue. I am curious as to why smugmug sorts files different than my computer. I use lightroom a good bit, and sometimes I do multiple versions of a file, so when exporting from lightroom an example of some files would be IMG_1234, IMG_1234-2, IMG_1234-3. On the computer in a folder sorted by name the are in that same order, but once uploaded to smugmug, when I sort by order, smugmug orders them IMG_1234-2, IMG_1234-3, then IMG_1234. Could you tell me why or if this is a fixable issue, or another way that I can insure I don't have to manually arrange images if I would like them in the correct order, without having to add or edit the names everytime I export from lightroom.

    Different sort mechanisms will sort files differently. Apparently SM treats a '-' to come before a space. One quick fix would be to append a '-' to all your filenames. Then your revised versions '-2', etc should be in the right order.

    And appending this '-' to all your filenames is pretty easy via command line. The command is REN *.* ????????-.*.
