Filename Sort Problem

In one of my galleries, I downloaded original image #28, modified it in LR, and uploaded two new files (#31, #32) to gallery. Gallery is set to Filename sort. Prefix part of all three filenames is the same except for added suffixes to new files. For some reason the two uploaded files do not sort adjacent to original, but as last items? Why? Please advise. Thanks.

Did you set the filename sort under gallery settings or from the tools menu?

Hi, Allen. Yes, filename sort was set in gallery settings.

The issue is that SM keeps any upper case letters in uploaded filenames but in the Save Photo download process converts the filenames to all lower case.

Filename sort is case sensitive. So if the original filename started with an upper case letter, any downloaded, modified and re-uploaded files with same prefixes but different suffixes won't sort next to originals. The only present fix is to manually correct downloaded original filenames to included caps where they exist in the gallery copy before actually saving them (or before uploading again).

This has been reported to SM Help which confirmed the problem and forwarded to QA team for review.

Thanks for the explanation Al. Never heard of sorts being case sensitive though.

We almost made it thru Lafayette south to Pecan Island area and across to
Galveston but decided on Colorado instead. Too hot end of July. :D

Allen, you made a good choice in Colorado. Lived in Montana for 4 years and really enjoyed it. As for the case sensitive sorting, SM Support told me that a couple of days ago...that was causing my problem.
