Edit2: Thanks David!

Edit: Is there a tut on how to embed a video from SM?

Here are some of my recent time lapses. That remote is very good. Watch 'em all, I'd like to know what you think :D

First, the best one, IMHO:

I wonder what the best setting for time-lapse is.
I guess manual focus and manual whitebalance are set. But what about aperture & shutter speed, ISO?

Example: When doing a timelapse sundown, you start with very much light going into darkness.

Do you have your camera set to Aperture Priority (Av)? And what about the interval?
If it is too short, it can conflict with longer shutter speeds after sunset.

I would be thankful if you can shed some light into that.

Yes, manual focus and white balance. I use manual mode. Usually ISO 100. Usually minimum aperture (f22, f32) to get a slow shutter speed. You usually want slow shutter speeds to show motion in the video.

I usually don't use aperture priority for a sunset. When the sun goes down, the shutter speeds would get longer, and the brightness of the video would stay the same. But in reality, it's getting darker. I would rather show it getting dark, like in reality. If you don't want to do this, then aperture priority should work.

The timer I use goes down to 1-second intervals, so as long as my shutter speeds are shorter than 1 second, I'm fine. Be sure that you have enough buffer space: shooting RAW every 1 second fills up my buffer, and once that happens, the camera can't do a photo every second.

    Makes sense! ;-)

    Thank you very much,

and a good article on calculating the number of shots needed is at:
