I needed to scan a HS paper article about my daughter, so for the first time I plugged in an HP scanner I had for a while, which was mostly attached to one of my kids' 'puters. I didn't want to install the s/w and decided to go with MS Scanning Wizard (also, for the first time)
Imagine my surprise when I saw the following dialog:
Note the name of the group (which came by default): C2H5OH.
For those of you who missed organic chemistry class: this is a formula for ethyl spirit, what's commonly known as "potable alcohol", base of all possible vodkas in the world.
Those guys in HP or MS do know how to party:-):1drink

Thanks for the chemical background info - very interesting! I would have thought of nothing but some random stuff when I have had this combination on my screen.
It's a wonder that you could even scan without installing lot's of stuff. Looks like the contrary to a developer life full of parties at MS or HP - they eventually thought about how they could get stuff done with the latest service pack.

Especially after XP came to play..

Good stuff.
Nik, if that C2H5OH is a repeatable situation, you might be able to add that to the archives at eeggs.com

Dunno . I guess I would need to get another brand new XP install and try to hook up the same scanner. Maybe somebody else can confirm/reject? I guess it has to be either TWAIN or PTP (picture transfer protocol) device - and I don't have any more here...
Cheers!
