I know this may sound like a stupid question and get me laughed right off this site but I have to ask.

Having a blonde moment here, but I can't for the life of me remember how to make a "Low Res" image. Is it just saving in Photoshop at something smaller than 10?

While I don't believe there is an official definition of low res, I would define it as an original image file that has had the number of pixels substantially reduced. Physical size (if it really exists) of the image isn't paramount. More or less compression applied to the image file has nothing to do with low res.

As an example if you had an 16" X 20" image at 300 ppi, and you changed the image size to say 8" X 10" at 72 ppi. In my opinion the would be a low res image file. You could print the first image at 16" X 20" no problem. With the second image file you could not print it at 8" X 10" and get a good print because the resolution (ppi) in insufficient. Wheather you save it at level 12 or level one will not impact this fact.

I usually change the dimensions rather than just the quality to 800x600 or so about 20% of original image

I usually change the dimensions ... of original image

+1 (by entering the required pixel dimensions in Image Size)

Noting that a (resized) image with pixel dimensions that are 20% (1/5th) of the original also has an area that is 1/25th (4%) of the original.

ie 96% of the original info has been thrown away :)

    Fred,

I was concerned he wouldn't make it through the night, but slowly he re-hydrated, ate some food and was much better in the morning. Animal control came by and took him to the shelter.
