software calculates the entire images , and try to make something out of it
with manual , you copy small parts from one image to another
- in this case ; legs and dewdrops come from other images , 3 in total

I appreciate the explanation. It is my understanding several shots are taken of a given subject at different positions. Then software is used to combine these shots into one image. Like HDR.

not at different positions , but different distances
indeed , sort of like HDR
major problem in macro is DOF
this way we try to compensate that
software = DB or zerene
manual = clone with clone-tool = most image-editors have that function
