What he said up there ^^^^^^^^^^^^

Canon Super Teles... You can't go wrong with anything you get. unless the glass has some huge crack in it or something along those lines.

    What is your intended use?

600mm without IS, will require first rate long glass technique.

If the lens is still in first rate condition, it should be superb optically.

It might be useful to get some idea about how much longer Canon is going to support maintenance of this lens, re spares / servicing?

Why IS? Isn't it recommended to turn it off when using tripod?

It's useful for handholding, but it's expensive. If you're using a tripod all the time, the non-IS is a good value.
