I was booked a couple of months ago to shoot a family from Paris who were going to be visiting the mums parents here in Plymouth. The weather wasn't great, but it was dry at least and the sun was trying to make an appearance.

Here is a quickly edited selection of the shots, always keen to hear what you think and to take on board any suggestions.

Great shots. One thing though. Can something be done about the fly away hair in shot 2 and shot 7 I think it was she had a strand of hair in her face. Can that be photoshopped out?

When I see images like this I take them in as a whole. These are family photos. They show the family on vacation and have captured the little girls personalities and expressions very nicely.

I don't even see or care about a stray hair.

Now if it were for the front page of a national magizine I would be giving the MUA a lot of grief. :D

I love the family shot right at the beginning. Looks like there's a lot of fun in that household and you managed to capture it perfectly! What parent wouldn't be happy with these? What's your secret to getting everyone with a full-on grin at the same time?

absolutely stunning set - particularly love 10/11!!

I suppose if one HAS to nit, it might be worth considering a headswap for the baby in #1 if you have a smile from her in a close enough pose, but that is major nit-tastic. These are beautiful, capture the family's sense of fun and if I were the parents I'd be on cloud 9 to have a set like that of my family. Great job! clap.gif

Sorry for the late reply everyone, I've been away for the week. Thanks a lot for the kind words, it was a good shoot and most imporantly I've heard back from the mum and they are really happy.

Oscar, not sure that I quite managed everyone looking full on happy but we got close. It comes down to a mix of me getting attention and also parents encouraging too. The best thing about this family is that the two parents (especially dad) were really enthusiastic to that rubs off. If the parents are not keen then it's not likely that the children will be all that keen either.

Divamum, it's a rule, you have to nit pick a bit ;) I must agree that if they come back to me for a large family photo I will offer a head swap, just waiting to hear what they want.

    fantastic set!
how did you manage to get the lil ones interact with you so much?

I gotta say, I was looking over the set, and the main thought pulsating through my brain was "poor guy, he's totally outnumbered".

Laughing.gif, yes he has a lot of ladies in his life :)

I just make jokes, get their attention a bit, then let them play and forget about being photographed for a bit. If you keep on at them they will be very board and then you will have no connection.
